Zaaituin is a foundation in formation, it is not yet registered.

Zaaituin is an initiative of volunteers. The goal is, to give youth in areas of war and violence access to education again.

When an area experiences war or other intense violence, youth are often denied access to a good education. Schools and other public buildings are destroyed, roads are dangerous or inaccessible, infrastructure is destroyed. The result is that the children sit at home, or in camps, with much insecurity. Their mental development stands still, or even deteriorates.

Zaaituin wants to provide support from safe Europe to the people in those dangerous areas to give their youth back access to development and education.

We do this by establishing relationships with those organizations, supporting them with donations from European countries, and bridging the gap between those organizations and humanitarian NGOs.

Often those organizations cannot do it themselves, for various reasons. For example, because they have to deal with a national government that imposes heavy sanctions on them.

Because Zaaituin runs partly on the participation of people who come from the target area, and thus have short lines of communication with family members who still live there, the situation on the ground is well known. There is a strong bond of trust, the volunteers of Zaaituin do not have a financial interest but an emotional and social interest in the initiatives.
